Bess Atwell‘s new single, “Co-Op,” is out today on Real Kind Records.
Brighton-based singer-songwriter Bess Hildick-Smith aka Bess Atwell has just signed to Lucy Rose’s Real Kind Records. To celebrate the good news, the up and coming artist releases today a personal and gorgeous new track, “Co-Op,” on which she explores her past and her present. “I think of this song the same way I think of a memory that keeps interrupting the current moment,” she explains. “It’s a snapshot of a time of refuge and routine […] I used references to Virginia Woolf’s ‘Mrs Dalloway’ to depict a vivid nostalgia and an affinity for trivialities that serve to calm when darker thoughts set it.”
“Co-Op” also comes with a video, that she co-directed with her friend George Ogilvie.
