Bon Iver – 22 (OVER S∞∞N) [Bob Moose Extended Cab Version]
Five years. It’s been five years since Bon Iver has given us a new song. Bon Iver, the name for Justin Vernon’s musical project has caught the public’s (and my) ear with noteworthy tracks such as the song (seemingly covered by everyone) “Skinny Love”, “Holocene”, (and my personal favorite) “For Emma”. Well he is finally back with a slightly different (but very interesting) sound, in this emotive and evocative track, “22 (OVER S∞∞N) [Bob Moose Extended Cab Version]”. My dude is back and it’s honestly so great.

Vince Staples – Prima Donna EP
There is a rift in the hip-hop community between what some break down into two types of modern rap. The first type is what many see as the overly-saturated, money talking, grandiosely violent and misogynistic “mainstream.” The second type is what hip hop “purists” deem “conscious hip-hop.” Some consider the former to be a cancer to the iconic original genre, but many others refuse to demonize either form. Vince Staples, however, is one of the artists who straddle the line between these two current major leagues, as his last EP “Prima Donna” demonstrates it.
AFFAIRS – Stained Gold EP
AFFAIRS don’t feel nearly ragey enough to have an all caps band name, but power to them for trying to pull it off. The group is a collection of five Englishmen who all met at Hull University, drawn together by a mutual love of 80’s tunes. Their style is self-described as “doom pop”, and while I don’t know if I buy it as a real classification, it fits the band’s creative feel. They just dropped a new EP entitled “Stained Gold”, and I’ve got some pretty strong opinions on the result.
D.R.A.M. – Cute
Virginia sing-rapper D.R.A.M. (“Does Real Ass Music”) has been quite active these last days. Indeed, he just released the video for his collaborative track with Lil Yachty: “Broccoli” and is featured on salute’s “One More Chance.” But his last solo offering is the real gem. “Cute” is an infectious and lighthearted track that should stimulate your dopamine level. This Charlie Heat‘s production will make you sing and smile all day long!
⚡ Blood Orange – Augustine
Slicing into a blood orange, the warm sunset tones of the exterior give way to the deep, rich crimson of the interior. The juices spill slightly in the wake of its creation and the taste is distinct and multifaceted. This is why Blood Orange is the perfect name for Dev Hynes’ musical project. He recently released a new record “Freetown Sound”, and one particular track (from an array of dazzling songs, like dude, trust me, go check out this album right now) that stands out is “Augustine”.

He is dark. He is mysterious. He is emotionally artistic. He is Josiah Wise and Josiah Wise is serpentwithfeet. He is one of the most recent artists to sign onto Tri Angle Records. His first debut single, “flickering”, is simply stunning!
