Charli xcx shares “party 4 u” video, five years after the single’s release

"party 4 u" is taken from Charli xcx's mixtape how i'm feeling now.

Five years ago today, Charli XCX dropped her quarantine-born mixtape how i’m feeling now — a DIY project that captured the chaos and creativity of the pandemic. “It was all of us at our most raw, our most stripped, our most vulnerable,” she said in an Instagram post, reflecting on that era. “I will never forget it, and I really can’t believe that 5 years later one of the angel favorites is having its own special moment.” Still riding high on her recent hype, Charli is celebrating this milestone in true brat fashion.

Today, the British pop visionary released a long-awaited music video for “party 4 u,” a fan-favorite track that had, until now, existed only in audio form. It’s basically about throwing a party for someone who doesn’t come — that feeling of wanting to see someone but they’re not there. The song resurfaced earlier this year thanks to a viral TikTok trend and has been climbing the charts in both the UK and the US—five years after its original release.
