LA based duo crushed are ready for a big moment this fall with the release of their debut album no scope. The duo—Bre Morell and Shaun Durkan—have been quietly building momentum over the past couple of years, crafting music that blends emotional honesty with layered and intricate production. Following their breakout EP extra life and a string of live shows across the UK and US, no scope promises to capture their raw, instinctive approach to songwriting. A process that, true to the album’s name, feels like taking a precise shot straight from the hip.
Written and recorded between their homes in Los Angeles and Portland, the album finds the pair refining their sound with co-producer Jorge Elbrecht, distilling dozens of demos into what is described as their most focused, heartfelt work yet.

Following up on “starburn,” their latest single, “Cwtch,” offers another glimpse into what’s to come. Floating on lush synths and aching harmonies, the track sees Durkan taking the lead on vocals, joined by Morell’s soft backing layers. Speaking about the song, Durkan explains, “‘Cwtch’ is a Welsh word meaning an embrace with a sense of offering warmth and safety, a safe place. I wrote the song during a period where I was really struggling to ‘live life on life’s terms.’ A time when learning new ways of coping with difficult feelings felt like an enormous challenge, and returning to self destruction sounded like returning home.” With “Cwtch,” crushed deliver a hazy, bittersweet slice of alt-pop that feels both fresh and nostalgic.
