“Never Learn” is the first single taken off of Fleur Electra‘s upcoming debut album, In My Room, out January 2024.
Anna Klein, the Toronto DIY singer-songwriter, producer, and musician known as Fleur Electra, electrified our musical senses with her In Technicolor EP in 2022. But now, she’s about to take us on a new journey as she is readying the release of her debut album, In My Room. While we can’t reveal too much from this upcoming project just yet, the first single, “Never Learn,” definitely marks a sound evolution. Fleur Electra seems to have traded in her sugary pop hooks for a more ambient, intimate and vulnerable tone.
“When I originally wrote this tune, it was from the narrative of speaking to someone else,” she explains. “But as I leaned into it, I found it could be equally considered a letter to myself which honestly seems to happen a lot lol. It’s vulnerable and tragic – all about the aching of longing, and the strange comfort that can be found in the addictive cycle of self destruction. At the time of writing this song, i remember life was frustrating. Too many ebbs, not enough flows .. this song feels very much like a portrait of that time. It’s painful and I’m kinda sorry if you can relate haha but I do hope you connect and maybe even cry.”
