M.I.A. is one of those artists who don’t hesitate to raise its voice to defend one issue. Her music is always politically charged as for her track “Borders“. She is now using again her creativity to raise awareness for “World Recycle Week” and dropped “Rewear It” in partnership with H&M.
The point of “World Recycle Week” is to encourage people to give away their old clothes to use them again as new fabric. It takes place from April 18 to 24 and you can drop clothes you don’t want anymore in all H&M stores in exchange for store credit.
In the video, you can see people from all around the world, dancing on M.I.A.‘s track, while she dances in a city over a pile of clothes. For all those who suffer of acrophobia, please don’t watch this ! The video was shown on Vogue where she explains :
“If all [H&M] do is go and inspire another high-street brand to get in on caring and being conscious, or if H&M gets criticized for any of their factory processes, these are all good things,”
Let’s hope this will raise awareness about the working conditions in H&M factories as for people throwing their clothes. Don’t forget to donate them to your local storage that will sell it to help people in need.
