Copenhagen based duo mikey (Maiken Kock Rask + Henrik Koefod) write and produce their music in a small studio in the heart of the Danish capital, following instinct more than formula. Since their debut single “don’t wait” arrived in March 2025, they have built an intimate, melancholic and airy sound that struck a chord with us. While mikey have only released a handful of tracks so far, the duo have already begun shaping a distinct sonic identity that fits so well within Copenhagen’s current popscape. On their new material, Maiken’s crystal clear vocals move to the forefront and float over a palette of organic beats and analogue textures crafted together with Henrik, that give the songs a vaporous, almost evanescent quality.
Their debut EP first notes brings that vision together in a collection that feels blissful, aerial and airy in the way we love most from dream leaning pop. The project blends new age inspired synthesizers, trap inspired low end beats and delicate wind instruments into something both modern and slightly otherworldly, while moments like the distorted guitar lines on “wash away” hint at the duo’s willingness to dig into different corners of the genre. The final single “a little too late” draws the listener into late night hours where time seems to dissolve, contemplating heartbreak and the emotional traces it leaves behind. The subtle medieval undertones running through the production add an unexpected texture that reminds us of the atmospheres and melodies explored by artists like Oklou and Danny L Harle. Listen below.
