Nourished by Time announces new album, shares “Max Potential” video

“Max Potential” is taken from Nourished by Time's second album, The Passionate Ones, out August 22 via XL Recordings.

Baltimore native Marcus Brown, better known as Nourished by Time, has carved out a genre-defying space all his own where jazz, punk, hip hop, indie, electronic, and R&B collide. His music channels the vibrant energy of his hometown into something wholly original. His excellent debut album Erotic Probiotic 2 introduced a singular voice grappling with love, identity, and survival. And the artist hasn’t slowed down since its release, expanding his body of work with collaborations (with Pearly Drops, amongst others), an EP, and appearances on festival lineups – including Turin’s C2C this Fall.

Now, Brown is back with his second full-length album, The Passionate Ones, due out this August and marking his first release with XL Recordings. Written across Baltimore, London, and NYC, the album is described as “a sermon, a twelve-track catharsis, howled from the underbelly of late-stage capitalism.” It offers a powerful meditation on labor, love, and hope, told through the lens of an artist pushing forward despite the odds.

The first taste of the album is already here: the shimmering lead single “Max Potential”, complete with a self-directed video shot in NYC. Watch and support via Bandcamp below.
