About the track and the collaboration with Amy J Pryce, JKP told us:
For this track a lot of inspiration was taken from artists such as James Blake and Marion Hill. Both use very interesting samples to create minimal yet dynamically rich soundscapes. I wanted to create a track that was stripped back but heavy at the same time. Vocals wise, I never think about melody or lyrics when making a track as I like to leave it a blank slate for whoever is contributing, and was incredibly happy with what Amy came up with. I’ve known Amy for a while, I bumped into her recently though at our friend’s gig (XY&O) and we got chatting about the potential for a collaboration, so I sent her through the idea later that week and it went from there!
Amy J Pryce told us about it:
JKP and I go back a few years – I’d recently heard a few tracks he’d been working on and was really excited by them. The vocal for “Against the Wall” was pretty much freestyled and recorded on my bedroom floor. I was pleasantly surprised to hear what was done with it. Lyrically it deals with some of the frustrating realities of relationships which we all face whether we like it or not – the things you’ll do for love, basically. Paired with JPK‘s production it’s led to a track that we’re both very happy with. I’m looking forward to seeing more of what he has to offer.
