Musician and post-disciplinary artist Liyv shares today a new synth-pop spell that draws as much from early-Grimes ambient-pop soundscapes than from Far East cultures. Driven by an almost military rhythm section and yet so voluptuous, her new offering “Pink Twisted Lungs” is a diaphanous and fragile layering of celestial vocals. As often with the artist, the meaning of the song remains cryptic but her production opens the door to so many personal interpretations. So do yourself a favour, close your eyes and pick your favourite dreams. Tune in below.

It is freezing outside, but this playlist is definitely warming us up and making us bounce!

Finger-licking new music is served! Breathe the cold Scandinavian air thanks to electronic newcomer Brynäs in the hypnotizing “Trigger”. Warm air from the west can define Yuno, who pleases us again, after his hit “Sunlight”, with the bouncing “No Going Back”.

At age 21, LIYV is one of the most interesting and creative artists on the pop scene at the moment. Last year, she released her debut EP “It Me” which was very well received by the blogosphere and she definitely wants to keep up the momentum in 2018 by releasing a new song every month. We’re happy to premiere today her first offering of 2018.

LIYV‘s “I Still Dance On My Own” is an experimental-pop track tailored for winter. It’s a light-hearted and futuristic baroque song with pastel and cold soundscapes and an infectious melody. We don’t know if her two cats Orpheus and Rex actively participated in the creative process and if the song is actually dedicated to them but we’re sure that LIYV sometimes dances alone with them. It sounds exciting like the first snowfall and it has a dual reading: is it a celebration of loneliness or a song about being alone after love? “I Still Dance On My Own” comes with a graphic and playful video which was directed by Olivia Holman and Joel Marchand. Watch it below.

Connect with LIYV via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

This week our Deer Du Bois playlist is curated by 4 artists from around the globe, each of them making music from the heart, telling their story, staying true to their ideas and talents, while creating a unique sound!

Meet this weeks picks by SAKIMA (UK) x LIYV (US) x THE LAND BELOW (SE) x TAFF (GR)

From Sakima‘s picks, watch out for SATICA and her “high” energy slow-pop on “Honey Whiskey”. She will also release a track in collab with our dearest Sakima very soon. On “3 Times” by Marged, a soulful scream is unleashed and transformed into a powerful life lesson. Follow SAKIMA on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Portland’s pastel pop singer Liyv got inspired by one of the most mysterious, yet progressive artists of the moment: Sevdaliza on her hypnotic masterpiece “Hero”. Her next pick, a collaboration between Starrah & Diplo on “Zoo”, perfectly reflects the deformed voices from the former song and also hints Liyv‘s drive on her latest album. Follow LIYV on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Erik from The Land Below, known for his misty chill tracks, makes us discover the warm electronic soul of Solregn on “ONE”. And with Desta French, we melt the ice thanks to her rhythmic and uplifting pop on “Needing You”. Follow THE LAND BELOW on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]E[/su_dropcap]very Wednesday on HighClouds, from now until death do us part, we publish the picky playlists of our Brussels’ friend and collaborator Deer Du Bois.
