Oneohtrix Point Never‘s new album Magic Oneohtrix Point Never is out October 30 on WARP.

Two years after Age Of, Daniel Lopatin has finally announced the release of a new Oneohtrix Point Never album whose title was inspired by a wrong enunciation heard on Boston radio station Magic 106.7. “It loosely summons the broadcasting logic of radio dayparts, starting in the morning and ending overnight,” explains the press release. Coming with the announcement, the experimental producer has already unveiled three tracks: the intro “Cross Talk I,” “Auto & Allo” and the Caroline Polachek-assisted “Long Road Home”.

“The City” is taken from Jockstrap‘s sophomore EP, Wicked City, out June 5 via WARP.

Following on from “Acid,” London-based avant-pop duo Jockstrap (Georgia Ellery + Taylor Skye) have announced the release of their sophomore EP, a 5-track project that is described as “a response to Love is the key to the City”. About the EP, Georgia also added:

[su_quote]The heavy autobiographical narrative of Wicked City is married to an expressive and limitless sound world; influenced by everything we [Georgia and Taylor] have ever musically absorbed and moulded with a ‘fuck it’ attitude. Particular musical features of this record include classical composition, through-composed songwriting and the heavy influence of dubstep. There are multiple narratives to Wicked City: sanity to madness; realism to surrealism and innocence to experience. But when it comes down to it, it’s a breakup / breakdown record that presents how I dealt with losing what I had when I wrote ‘love is the key’.[/su_quote]

Alongside this announcement, they’ve also unveiled a brand new track. Starting like an intimate and minimalistic ballad, “The City” eventually turns into a feast of glitch and triturated frequencies.

“Gospel For A New Century” is taken from Yves Tumor‘s upcoming album, Heaven To A Tortured Mind, due out April 3 on WARP.

Yves Tumor is a multi-talented artist, whose music is as arresting as his visual universe. After his 2018’s album Safe In The Hands Of Love, the American genre-defying producer is going to return on WARP with his brand new album, Heaven To A Tortured Mind, co-written and produced with Justin Raisen. Tumor has just unveiled the lead single, “Gospel For A New Century,” which comes with a stunning demonic video.

About the visuals, director Isamaya Ffrench commented:

[su_quote]Nobody has ever inspired or moved me like Yves Tumor. It’s hard to do justice and communicate the devotional feeling of adoration and love I feel for him and what he represents as an artist. In short, he’s the shit and i’m so honoured to have made my directorial debut with him as my muse.[/su_quote]

Jockstrap‘s debut EP on Warp is out later this year.

London-based experimental pop project Jockstrap, comprising Georgia Ellery and Taylor Skye, have just announced the release of a new EP on Warp. The project will follow-up to their 2018’s mini-album Love Is the Key to the City.

They have also unveiled an avant-pop ballad, “Acid”, of which Ellery said: “‘Acid’ is a track for my brother. It’s expansive, vibrant and filled with love. Taylor designed this beautiful sound world: I sent him a 6/8 ballad and he sent me back this other worldly thing.”

Skye then added: “Georgia sent me this swooning, expressive, tender piano demo and I did my best to match it. It was real fun to produce. I feel like this is the most uplifting song we’ve made so far – it almost has summer vibes.”

The Sims-inspired visuals were directed by Claudia Matè and Mischa Notcutt. The video showcases everything you can expect from a dramatic R&B song except that the action takes place in a virtual world. About the video of “Frontline”, Kelela detailed:

[su_quote]With this Sims-like video, I was able to tell my story in a light-hearted but dramatic way. It’s about leaving your ex with the wind in your hair while acknowledging a curiously complex feeling of pain that he has left you for a white woman.[/su_quote]

[su_dropcap style=”simple”]O[/su_dropcap]ne of our favorite acts of 2015 is back and is ready to keep his rank for 2016. Irish-born South-London mysterious vocalist Samuel is back with a bewitching reggae-from-space track “Killr”. And good news, this new single announces the release of the EP “LUV CRY” for June via Big Dada.

The 4-track EP is produced by Kwes, from Warp, who already signed the Frank Ocean on ecstasy 2015’s track “These Days”. It will also features additional production by Ozkharp (Hyperdub) and Lockah (Donky Pitch). We think this is a good news! The artist wrote in the press release that “LUV CRY” would be about “confessions/offerings to a loved one…stuff I can’t give/say/do day to day.”

The first single, “Killr”, follows what the artist has always offered us so far: a perfect mix of electronica and R&B. Here, we also hear some futuristic reggae vibes and once again, we are delighted. We really hope we will be able to see him soon live in Brussels!

Samuel‘s voice should be classified as a universal therapy. We hope that “LUV CRY” will give the artist what he really deserves!

This new EP, that you can pre-order here, will be the follow-up to 2014’s the excellent “Falling Star“. Dominic Flanningan: “A favourite from Lantern, with ‘System’ Hud Mo was inspired by some tear-out Jeff Mills offset with those minimalist classical arpeggios – and when considering an associated film I thought of classic rave visuals and cg stock art of the late 90s where the grid of the city would be superimposed with circuit boards and processors. Here we updated it for 2015, commissioning our own 4K helicopter shoot over Manhattan which Nic Hamilton treated, placing in a CG environment that evokes Philip Glass ’1000 Airplanes On The Roof’.”

Nic Hamilton: “System is about big cities and screens, manic focused euphoria and cinematic panoramas. It is the experience of NYC from a helicopter at dawn with a 4G connection.”

“System” is taken from Hudson Mohawke‘s second LP “Lantern” that we reviewed earlier this year.

You can also watch Battles‘ video for “Dot Net”, which was the first episode of WARP x Channel 4‘s Random Acts series.

[su_dropcap style=”simple” size=”1″]M[/su_dropcap]ath rock band Battles is opening a new WARP film series for Channel 4‘s Random Acts with their video for “Dot Net”. The track is featured on their last album “La Di Da Di” also out on WARP.

The video is directed by Ben Jones and deals with a utopian relationship between men and technology. It starts like a video game and is as geek as you think: in a futuristic museum, people are admiring connected and psychedelic video paintings. You will see screens, computers and smartphones. It fits very well to the universe of their last album, which doesn’t include any vocals.

[su_youtube_advanced url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4wRnv2D-54″ playlist=”vUGtLwFsQKg,Xdkqq0SpePU”]

Here are some words of the director:
“The exploration of the digital territory between abstract graphic user interfaces, poly-rhythms and human interaction was a paramount inspiration of this video. Prodding and proving the causality of passive engagement vs hyper-addiction concerning the influence of “screen time” (using the video and audio of an iPad or iPhone or etc….). In the end we kept returning to this jump off: “Is this a dope music vid to have on your Apple Watch? Yes or No?”
