Last year, while preparing our list of the artists to watch in 2017, we promised you a lot to come from our Belgian fellow WWWater. Now, you can also here the proof of her genius with her eponymous debut track.
Despite her collaboration with Soulwax and a few releases under her real name Charlotte Adigéry, she didn’t release any music under this new name. We asked you to trust our judgment and we are happy to share with you this debut track that seems to prove that we were right to take the gamble on her.
“WWWater”, her first solo attempt that was inspired by the discovery of a waterfall in Martinique, comes as a minimal pop track, infused with many references, ranging from Prince to ambient electronic sounds. The track enables you to drown yourself into her universe that will surround your entire body into an ethereal experience. Her voice, that is also used as a sampled instrument, is the main protagonist and we understand why she was a back up singer for other artists. The debut of her new project comes as a rebirth for the artist. It is not a coincidence that she uses the lyrics “sacred shower”, reminding of the baptism ceremony. Thanks to her experience, she delivers an outstanding confidence on this shining debut track.
Charlotte Adigéry’s new project WWWater stops time thanks to minimalistic electronic sounds and vocal loops.
As the track evolves, the experimentation of the Belgian artist gets progressive and more assertive while remaining naked and simple – almost organic, just like the water she sings about. As minimal as it sounds, the production never stops and become denser. Living in a world of over-information and speed, the singer takes pleasure in holding time, for you to pay attention to every single beat. She eventually shows her inner sense of creation by producing major emotions with only a few sounds and significant silences.

For now, you can follow her over Facebook, Soundcloud and Instagram.
