Nai Br.XX – Lovestruck (feat. Caleon Fox)
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]B[/su_dropcap]ack in November 2015, we were presenting you our Atlanta-based newcomer of the week Nai Br .XX. The groove of this 20-year-old soul singer seduced us and since then, we were waiting for more material from her. And here it is! She recently released “Lovestruck”, a track about unhealthy relationships. It was once again produced by Sensei Bruno and features Oakland young singer and rapper Caleon Fox.
Mhairi – Crystalline
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]S[/su_dropcap]he’s only 20 but her debut track is unquestionable. Mhairi, that you pronounce “mah-ree”, comes from Bournemouth, a city on the southern coast of England. Her debut track “Crystalline” reminds the wild sea resisting the rocks and the wind that often gives you chills. Her indietronica/R&B is located somewhere on a lost island with stunning sound landscapes, not far from the trip-hop of Massive Attack, the geyser-pop of iamamiwhoami, the sensuality of Banks and the creativity of Björk.
FRÖ shares an uplifting, fragile debut with “Shout!”
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]T[/su_dropcap]he music of FRÖ speaks by itself. In her single “Shout!”, you imagine the far North of Sweden and the small town where she used to live. You also visualize the mountains and the woods that surround it. You can almost see this young artist running there during the endless summer nights when she was a carefree child. Even though FRÖ moved to Stockholm the place she calls home is still present and important in her life and for sure remains a fruitful source of inspiration for her music that we, by the way, would qualify so far as Aurora Borealis pop music.
BVRGER – The Cool Kids
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]S[/su_dropcap]ome months after the discrete but promising and creative “Stay”, which ingeniously mixes alt-R&B and futuristic beats, Italian producer BVRGER is back with a new release on NDYD Records. “The Cool Kid” is a straight-to-the-dancefloor track despite that it deals with an unrequited love story. The song features low-key and sensual vocals, tropical drums and a certain Future Beats’ vibe the artist seems to have the secret of.
Iris Gold – Freakaholic
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]I[/su_dropcap]ris Gold, who made herself known less than a year ago with her debut R&B track “Goldmine”, just dropped a new crazy single. “Freakaholic” is a cover of Egyptian Lover and this new version was produced by MNEK.
Yaeji – New York 93
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]Y[/su_dropcap]aeji‘s new track “New York 93” is a sweet experimentation between alt-R&B, electronica and lo-fi pop and it is sung both in English and Korean. This calm strength song sounds inoffensive when it begins but then, it progressively grows until becoming a melodious and heady weapon that hits you straight in the head and remains there for a long time.
EP ALERT: SIBA – Fruits
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]D[/su_dropcap]on’t trust the artwork of SIBA‘s debut EP “Fruits” which represents a monochrome still-life. His 5-track musical project is a delicious dessert: colorful, refreshing, sharp and sweet. The 24-year-old Danish artist proposes something consistent and rich with sounds that could be inspired by our 2015’s newcomer Demo Taped, SOPHIE high on testosterones, a PC Music collaboration with soca artist Kevyn Little or even from fresh pop bands such as Metronomy. Yes, SIBA‘s music is like fruits: it is full of vitamins and is good for you!
Michael Christmas share 2 new tracks: “Bubbling” and “Video Game”
[su_dropcap style=”simple”]A[/su_dropcap]s he writes it himself, Michael Christmas is “back in dis bitch”! Five months after his LP “What a Weird Day”, the artist released two new tracks on his Soundcloud account. We don’t really know if they are new material or if they are cuts that didn’t make it to the final album but in any case, “Bubbling” and “Video Game” both deserve to be shared with his fans! The tracks are part of a project the artist calls “Michael Christmas March Madness 2-Song Special.”
