As one of the most exciting albums of this year, “Honey” by British pop artist Katy B was released last Friday, confirming that she is one of the most intriguing and definitely one of the most underrated pop stars of this century. To keep her fans exciting, and also of course to encourage to buy her album, she shared the electro-pop ballad “Water Rising” that features producer MssingNo and Rinse founder Geeneus.
In a press release, “Water Rising” is described as “spine-tingling dark lullaby with a backdrop of melancholic R&B inflected electronics” and we couldn’t agree more since it reminds Katy B‘s first loves like pop and R&B music, but putting a more modern and certainly more mature touch thanks to the electronic production. It is somehow fascinating to see how a big pop star can focus her career on her love for underground electronic music as she collaborated with strong names such as Four Tet & Floating Points in “Calm Down“, Kaytranada in “Honey“, Diplo for the Craig David featured “Who Am I“, Chris Lorenzo in “I Wanna Be” among many more!
Honey is out now and available to buy here on iTunes.
