Maria Somerville is gearing up to release a new album—her first full-length project since All My People, which landed on our Best Albums of 2019 list. Though it’s been a while, the Irish composer has stayed busy with various projects, including her own radio show on NTS.
Following September’s standalone track “Projections,” the lead single “Garden” is out now. Somerville, known for her ethereal production and unique fusion of folk and ambient music inspired by Connemara, continues to craft atmospheric soundscapes infused with traditional influences. “Garden” embraces a melancholic shoegaze sound, layering bass and guitar beneath her haunting vocals.
The track is accompanied by a video directed by Anna Heisterkamp.
