After appearing in our Weekly Additions, Norwegian duo Smerz now deserve a proper spotlight with “Because” and its newly released video.

In the clip, Henriette and Catharina keep things deliberately restrained: they sing, move, and almost dance with a glacial detachment that feels entirely their own. It is minimal, cool, and quietly magnetic — nonchalance elevated to an art form.

We first fell for “Because” because of its cold, sparse, and hypnotic beauty. Built around a simple, almost skeletal production, the track carries the kind of icy elegance that Scandinavian artists so often seem to master effortlessly. Like a cobra locking eyes with its prey, Smerz draw you in slowly, patiently, and completely.
